We value your and our safety above all else, so we have been following the advice of government and medical guidelines to make Ogilvy House ‘Covid-19 secure’. Therefore, we have
carried out a thorough Risk Assessment to re-open. We are sorry for the temporary changes, it is not going to be forever, but it is the legal and correct thing to do.


Due to social distancing, we will only operate a maximum of two rooms (4 guests) in the breakfast room at any one time. Ogilvy House reserves the right to close and cancel bookings due to Covid-19 and will refund deposits for the closed period.

Arrival times will be staggered, to enable social distancing between guests, when checking-in.On arrival we request that guests wear face masks and sanitise their hands with gel provided. They will then be required to have their temperature taken with a non-contact thermometer by Richard, who will be wearing P.P.E. and a track and trace questionnaire will be completed. At this stage we reserve the right to refuse entry to guests presenting with Covid-19 symptoms. Our normal check-in procedure will then proceed.
Your sanitised room and front door key will be given to you in a plastic bag and you will be directed to your room. Unfortunately, we are unable to handle your luggage, therefore, we suggest you travel light!

Our standards have always been extremely high, but we’re doing more by implementing a strict cleaning and disinfection regime throughout the house, with the added measure of a ‘Safe2Stay’ aerosol released into your room before your arrival, in order to disinfect all surfaces, including fabrics.

In accordance with guidelines, your room will not be serviced once you have been given your key, but clean cups/saucers will be swapped daily from a tray outside your room. We need to stress at this point that NO Takeaway’s or food are allowed in our Bedrooms as it far exceeds our Bed and Breakfast terms and creates smells and sometimes soiling and spillage.

We are keeping it simple and safe when it comes to prepping and cleaning your room. We have removed throws, cushions, hairdryers, and ironing boards, however the ironing boards, irons and extra pillows can be requested.
We replace the whole hospitality tray stock for each new guest. Additional tea and coffee items can be requested.

Your room will be prepared by someone wearing P.P.E, plus a fresh disposable apron and gloves. Laundry will be bagged for 72 hours after your departure, before being separately washed on a 60 C degree program.

Frequent touch points throughout the house, such as door handles, stair handrails and light switches will be regularly sanitised.

We also ask that guests wear face masks in the hall and on the stairs.


Tables will be set 1.5 metres apart and guests only sit at one table for the duration of their stay. Guests will be asked what time they prefer to have breakfast, between 8am and 9am. Richard will take orders for cereals, fruit juice and beverages, as the main breakfast will be ordered the previous night. Condiments, butter, sugar etc. will brought to the table on request and Cruets sanitised, between each service. Before entering the breakfast room, we require guests to sanitise their hands. We have removed the linen table clothes and replaced them with washable and easy to sanitise place ones.

Magazines and tourist literature have been removed from the building to reduce the risk of virus transmission. If, you need directions or tourist information please ask and we will do our best! We also recommend Google maps if you have a smart phone.

On departure, keys are returned and any outstanding balance of payment processed. Please be aware that we are currently not holding Lost Property, therefore make sure you check and take all your belongings away with you.
