TERMS AND CONDITIONS

PAYMENT METHODS

Payment may be made by  using a DEBIT/CREDIT card, excluding American Express, in order to secure a booking. However, we only accept CASH or DEBIT cards for final balance due on departure.

We reserve our right to alter our prices without prior notice at any time, but will always honour the price offered at the time of booking.

DEPOSIT

We request  one nights payment, per room on all  bookings received within two months of the stay in advance, by way of a deposit . Bookings made more than two months in advance for three nights or more require a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of 50% of the total cost.

DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, EXCLUDING GOVERNMENT LOCK-DOWNS DUE TO COVID-19

Payment of your deposit is taken as your agreement to the Terms & Conditions of booking appearing on this website. Ogilvy House reserves the right to close, due to COVID-19 and will refund any deposits for cancelled bookings during that period. Guests cancelling bookings due to COVID-19 will only be refunded their deposit in the case of Government Lock-Downs in their home area.

GIFT VOUCHER’S

Gift Voucher’s can be purchased from Ogilvy House direct, but must be used within one year. Once dates have been booked and confirmed, they cannot be refunded or changed to alternative dates under any circumstances.

CHECK IN, CHECK OUT

Check in is from 4 PM to 7 PM

We are aware that guests sometimes have the need for an early check-in, i.e. weddings etc. On these occasions we are happy for guests to leave luggage earlier on the day of arrival, by prior arrangement only. However, if the accommodation is needed earlier than the check-in time of 4 PM, in order to prepare, we suggest staying the previous night. We are aware that guests often travel after work and long distance, in these circumstances a late check in ( after 7 P.M.) can be accommodated by prior arrangement, directly to Ogilvy House -01263 511170

Check out time is by 10.30 AM

We do NOT in any circumstances accept new same night reservations after 7 pm, from online booking agents or directly to Ogilvy House.

NO-SHOWS  : GUESTS FAILING TO ARRIVE AND CANCELLATIONS

In the case of a no-show the FULL cost of the room for the night(s) booked will be chargeable. In line with our cancellation policy with our online booking/travel agents, full payment is due if the cancellation is received within 14 days of the arrival date. We are a small business and rely on reciprocal, reliability in our bookings, therefore if there is any doubt that the reservation will come to fruition, we strongly advise due consideration. Please note, once a booking is confirmed, we are unable to transfer the reservation to an alternative date/s.

PLEASE NOTE THAT BOOKING.COM RESERVATIONS HAVE A DIFFERENT CANCELLATION POLICY.

ACCESS

Due to the age and design of the building the bedrooms are on the 1st and 2nd floors and therefore not wheelchair accessible. The stairs are that of a typical Victorian house.

CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL

All bookings are accepted by us in the belief that the accommodation will be available on the date booked. Should we be unable to provide the accommodation booked owing to circumstances beyond our control (e.g. damage to property), we will endeavor to provide alternative accommodation within Ogilvy House. If this is not possible, all monies received will be returned to the Guest (limited to the unavailable accommodation) and the Guest will have no further claim against Ogilvy House Ltd or it’s owners.

As we are a family run business without external staff we reserve the right, in extreme cases of emergency, to offer Continental breakfast in lieu of a cooked option, or a reduced price on accommodation per night. In such a situation, a trusted family member or friend would be on site in our absence.

Where comparable accommodation (i.e. in terms of space, facilities and quality) is offered but rejected by the Guest, the Guest shall have no entitlement to a refund.

We cannot be held responsible – financially or otherwise -for any problem, loss or delay suffered by the Guest as a result of force majeure. If a Guest is detained as a result of any unforeseen circumstance the payment terms stated herein shall still apply.

A holiday booking is a legally binding contract. If the Guest is unable to fulfill their part of the contract, he/she is still liable for the costs identified in these Terms & Conditions. Guests are therefore strongly urged to take out independent holiday insurance.

Minimum 2 night stay in high season, unless a natural one night vacancy is produced between longer bookings.

Great care has been taken in the preparation of information describing the accommodation available at Ogilvy House and unless the Guest can demonstrate that we have deliberately misrepresented what is on offer, we cannot be held responsible for a Guest’s dissatisfaction.

We do not allow children under 16 years old and only accept young persons between 16 -18 years old with an accompanying adult.

DAMAGES AND THEFT

Guests are jointly and severally liable for the cost of any damage or theft caused by anyone in their party. We will request your credit/debit card details on your arrival and these will be held for the duration of your stay in lieu of a ‘Damages/Theft Subject to no damage/theft being caused to either property or possessions at Ogilvy House and your full compliance with our Terms and Conditions, no money will be taken from your card and all record of the card details will be destroyed on your departure. However, any Guest causing damage/theft to the property, including but not limited to Guest rooms, fixtures, furnishings, artwork, or linens, will result in a charge of 130% of fair replacement value or necessary cleaning. We reserve the right to ask any Guest (or party including that Guest) to leave the premises without refund or compensation if any damage/theft is deemed to have been caused deliberately.All thefts will be reported to the police.

LOST KEYS

The cost of replacing keys lost by Guests is charged at £100.00 each, this is the amount we have to pay for one replacement, as all our keys are registered !

VALUABLES

We cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage to Guests’ possessions, or vehicles, howsoever caused. If you are dropping off luggage prior to gaining access to your room, please ensure that your luggage is locked and that it does not contain any valuables or money.

A small safe is provided in each bedroom for Guests’ use with instructions on its use.

SMOKING

Smoking is not permitted in the house and we ask Guests to be thoughtful and refrain from smoking in the immediate vicinity . Cigarette waste is unsightly and harmful to wildlife.

GROUP BOOKINGS

Group bookings are entirely at our discretion. For the comfort of our other Guests, we do not accommodate Guests attending Hen Nights or Stag Nights. Whilst, we welcome wedding Guests, we have a special policy for key wedding parties. i.e.Bride,Groom, Best-man, Brides-maids, Ushers and parents of the couple. The disruption incurred by florists, hairdressers, photographer’s etc. extends our usual service and can impinge on our other Guests’ enjoyment. Therefore, for this reason the cost is enhanced accordingly. Please contact us directly for details and also note that we only consider the above in low season ( November – April).

When more than one room is booked for a group of guests, it’s not permitted for joint use of facilities in any one room. i.e Only the guests booked into The Davies en suite are permitted to use the bath. It is also a policy of Ogilvy House that groups of guests are not permitted to hold parties in the rooms or on the landings.

DRUNK OR DISORDERLY BEHAVIOUR

We reserve the right to refuse entry to persons who are drunk or under the influence of drugs. You will be asked to leave without refund and the police will be called, if you are drunk or acting in a way that causes a nuisance or is offensive to other Guests or the proprietor(s).

NON BOOKED GUESTS ENTERING THE PROPERTY WITHOUT OWNERS PERMISSION

Our accommodation is only available to prepaid and signed-in Guests. Any invitation given by existing Guests to unauthorised additional overnight visitors will result in immediate eviction of all concerned and the Guest’s credit/debit card being charged for the entire booking and with the equivalent cost of accommodating the additional Guest(s) in separate room(s) at the prevailing tariff and the police summoned . At no time should resident Guests give access to non-booked Guests or visitors/callers to Ogilvy House.

COOKING/FOOD AND FRIDGES IN ROOMS

Guests are not permitted to set up temporary cooking or barbecue facilities in the accommodation or grounds. Takeaways/ fish & chips / shell fish etc. are not permitted to be consumed on the premises.

Under NO circumstances do we permit small fridges/cool box,s to be brought in and plugged into our electrical supply – we offer Bed and Breakfast, NOT SELF CATERING !

CANDLES AND INCENSE BURNERS

The use of candles and incense burners are not permitted anywhere on the premises.

PETS

Pets are not allowed.

PARKING

By prior arrangement and at owners risk. We have two parking spaces on our frontage and are allocated to Guests on request, if available, by way of first to book and apply. Ogilvy House Ltd. and it’s owners offer no responsibility or insurance, whilst Guests vehicles are parked on it’s property.

PROPERTY FOUND IN ROOMS AFTER DEPARTURE

Unfortunately guests property is often forgotten and left behind in rooms, only to be discovered once the guest is on their way or arrived home. We are more than happy to send items via post, however as this is an extremely common occurrence  we impose a standard charge of £7.00 in order to cover postage, packaging and time. In the event that a valuable or large ( i.e jewelry, i pad etc.) item needs returning, an additional charge depending on size and weight is required to cover insurance and tracking. DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS, WE ARE UNABLE TO OFFER A LOST PROPERTY SERVICE, ALL ITEMS LEFT IN THE PROPERTY WILL BE DISPOSED OF IMMEDIATELY.

SPECIAL REQUESTS

When possible, within reason we try to accommodate guests special requests, however there is a limit ! When a guest requests prior to arrival special dietary produce or preferred  foods for their stay, we reserve the right to charge an additional cost, according to the request and length of stay, which is agreed at the time of booking. Obviously, as a small establishment we are unable to cook to order or offer complete individual menus.
